We're going to talk about doing it yourself, living beautifully on less, making do or doing without, and counting it all joy in the process. We'll cover prep-work and painting, refacing kitchen cabinets, flooring on the cheap, tiling over laminate, upholstering furniture, and just rolling up our sleeves in general. "She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands. She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms. She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night. She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand holds the spindle. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness." ~ Proverbs 31:13, 17-19, 27

Can’t wait to hear about your big changes. My friends and I love your site..you have tried alot of your ideas already!!
Hi, I just discovered you website today and am so excited and impressed. My sister and brother-in-law are about to buy some land and it has an old doublewide trailer on it. It does not smell very good(cat urine), but we think it may have some potential. They eventually want to put a house on the land, but want to live in the trailer for a few years. The trailer is huge with a formal living and dining and a see through fireplace between the living and family room. I appreciate all the info, prices, materials, and links you gave. This will be so helpful as they decide if this will be a cost effective renovation. I would love to do this same thing for others, so they can see their progress. Thanks again for sharing your adventure of remodeling a trailer. Julie
Dear Amanda,
I have thoroughly enjoyed your website(blog?). When I saw this site, it reminded me of one of your downsizing posts. Here is the link, http://www.flickr.com/photos/happyjanssens/sets/72157600025082938/
Although it does not seem to be your style, I admire their make 375 sq. ft. the best you can and I think they did a stand up job.
Hope you like it.
Sincerely,
Michelle
P.S. I usually do not comment on anything, but seeing two sets of bunk beds in one room, the book plethora and other posts, I feel like I know you. I know you must not live anywhere near me, because your spring sprang, when we were snow covered, but I figured.. Christian, homeschooler, mother of many…:-)Takes one to know one, I guess.
Hi, Julie! Thanks for the kind comments. There is a wonderful odor-remover we tried in our trailer that worked like a charm. It’s a little bag that you hang in affected areas, and it absorbs the bad smells. When you notice the smells coming back again, you just take the bag outside and leave it in the sun for 8 hours to “recharge” it. It’s really amazing! You can read all about it at http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/browse/Home/For-The-Home/Household-Cleaning/Odor-Eliminators/Odor-Eliminator-Bags/D/30102/P/1:100:1030:10340:101120/I/f00097?evar3=BROWSE. There’s also a fantastic pet urine neutralizer called “Odor-B-Gone” that works like a charm: http://www.odorbgoneproducts.com/odor-b-gone.shtml?gclid=CIzjq9GT3ZsCFQN-xwodVxmdbQ. Hope this helps! Warmly, Amanda
Yep, you sound like a kindred soul, Michelle! Thanks for sharing that neat photo link!
